LAWN INSTALLATION

LAWN OPTIONS FOR ANY BUDGET

Whether you need an instant lawn or budget friendly hydroseeding, we have you covered.

We offer both sod and hydroseed options as well as extensive turf prep services that can be combined in a complete package to fit any budget.

THE GREAT HYDROSEED VS SOD DEBATE

Not sure what to choose? Check out our guide below!

While each option has it's own pros and cons, the answer ultimately comes down to 2 things: time and money!

WHY CHOOSE CLC FOR YOUR LAWN INSTALL?

With over 15 years of experience, we know how to install a lawn!

A lawn is only as good as the prep work done before installing. All CLC lawn installs include thorough soil prep work before the sod or seed even hit the dirt. Check out our process below to see what makes us different.

INITIAL GRADING

This is where we set the rough grade of the yard and get the soil ready for the next phase of the project. Our 2-part grading process ensures your yard has correct drainage and helps grass roots easily grow into the soil.

ROCK & DEBRIS REMOVAL

After the rough grade is set, we run our Rock Hound attachment over the yard to remove any rocks, brush, or debris. It also leaves behind a nice and smooth layer of dirt prior to our topsoil application.

TOP SOIL ADDITION

After the initial grade is prepared and the rocks and brush are removed, we bring in a 2" thick layer of fresh topsoil to provide additional nutrients for your new lawn to grow on!

FINAL GRADING

Once the final layer of fresh topsoil is added, we hand rake the yard to smooth everything out and set the final grade. Whether you choose sod or hydroseed, our extensive prep work gives your new lawn the perfect foundation it needs to thrive.

HYDROSEEDING

Hydroseed is an excellent choice if you're on a budget and have time to wait for the seeds to grow! It's made up of a custom blend of water, seed, mulch, and fertilizer that's sprayed onto the topsoil in the form of a slurry. Click below to learn about why hydroseed might be the best option for you!

SOD INSTALLATION

If you're after an immediately full, lush, and thick green lawn, then look no further - sod is the best choice for you! While more expensive than hydroseed due to the labor and material costs, it provides an instant lawn. Click below to learn about why sod might be the best option for you!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this company, our experience, all members of their crew (and not to mention our final product). It was honestly amazing to watch this hardworking crew meticulously plan and lay our landscaping. Besides hardworking, this crew is so sweet and kind not only to us but to each other, watching them work hard while laughing and enjoying themselves was a special experience. Moreover, I would recommend thing company over and over without any doubts!

Let's Get Started

WHAT IS IT?

Our hydroseed mixture is a custom blend of water, seed, mulch, and fertilizer. It's sprayed in a slurry form onto the topsoil where it bonds to the surface and eventually begins to grow grass.

COST

Hydroseed is more cost effective than traditional sod. The material cost itself is much lower than sod, and it's also much less labor intensive to install.

TIMING

Grass will first sprout up after about a week! It will be ready for mowing in 4 to 5 weeks, and will continue to establish over the next several months. Depending on your soil type, it may take a complete season to get a lush, full, and thick lawn.

MAINTENANCE

Fresh hydroseed will require extensive watering during the first several weeks. You should expect to water it at least 2 to 4 times per day, for up to 20 minutes at a time.

HYRDOSEED

The cost effective option

WHAT IS IT?

Sod is a pre-grown roll of grass that also includes the top layer of soil. The sod and soil are held together by a root system which eventually grows into the ground it's planted on. Our sod is sourced from the highest quality local SE Michigan farms.

COST

Sod looks great but unfortunately comes at a substantially higher cost than hydroseed. The increased cost is due to the material itself, and the amount of additional labor it requires to install. The heavy rolls of sod are laid by hand, and trimmed to fit around sprinkler heads, walkways, driveways, and the edges of the property.

TIMING

The biggest benefit of sod is how quickly you have a new lawn! Sod offers an immediately green, lush, and healthy lawn that can be installed in just a few days. It can be cut around 2 weeks after installation.

MAINTENANCE

Similar to hydroseed, new sod requires extensive watering for the first 2 weeks to encourage deep root growth. You should expect to water it at least 2 to 4 times per day, for up to 20 minutes at a time.
